Keep your Dog Safe outside with Invisible Fences and proper I.D Tags.
As a pet owner, pride yourself on taking care of and protecting your pet by following a few simple ways to ensure that you and your pet are never separated. Make sure your dog always has ID tags, rabies tag, license tag, your phone number, on their collar.
Fence in your yard and keep the gate closed and locked. If your pet is a dog, you may choose to get an invisible fence. Beware that there will be a lot of training involved with the invisible fence and although it keeps your dog in your yard, it does not keep other dogs or people away.
Losing a pet is a stressful situation you hope never to find yourself in. Here are some tips to help you find your lost pet.
1. Search your own property thoroughly before searching your neighborhood. Your pet may have gotten caught in a small space and unable to get loose.
2. Have pictures of your pet available. Make up some fliers with your pet’s picture and your phone number. Place an ad in your local newspaper.
3. Alert the following that your pet is missing: your neighborhood, local businesses, local shelters, animal control and local rescue organizations, veterinarians and local pet clinics, and check with your local and state department of transportation to ensure that your pet was not killed. If your pet has all its i.d. tags, as above, then it will be more easily traced and found.
For more at home security, you may decide to get an invisible fence to keep your dog from running out of your yard. Here are some simple training tips to keep your dog from bursting through that invisible fence. place little, brightly colored flags as this gives your dog visual clues during training. Approach the fence with your dog on a leash. As soon as the collar beeps, run away from the fence and encourage your dog to follow. Show him a lot of praise each time he does this. Repeat this process. Doing this makes your dog associate the beeping and the flags with the action of turning and running the other way.
Putting the former tips into play with the first the i.d. tags and then the invisible fence, you will help prevent ever having to deal with the latter.
